Sonja Kressner absolvierte 2008 ihr Staatsexamen zur Physiotherapeutin an der Uniklinik Freiburg. Seit dieser Zeit arbeitet Sonja Kressner als Physiotherapeutin, derzeit in der Physiotherapiepraxis Wunderle in Todtnau im Schwarzwald. Ihre Behandlungsschwerpunkte liegen in neurologischen und orthopädischen Bereichen: Manuelle Theraphie, Rückenschule, PNF (KG-ZNS), KGG, Tape und Myoarthropathie des Kiefergelenks. Seit ihrer Grundschulzeit spielt Sonja Kressner aktiv Musik. Zunächst Klarinette und später auch Saxophon. Derzeit unter anderem in dem sinfonischen Blasorchester der Orchestergemeinschaft Seepark in Freiburg.

Peter Mazza
Peter Mazza is an exciting jazz guitarist recognized for his creative and virtuoso interpretations of jazz standards as well as his passionate and thoughtful compositions. Blending clean and fluent lines with colorful chord voicings and driving pulse, he creates imaginative ensemble arrangements as well as lush solo guitar pieces.
Born and raised in New York City, he attended La Guardia High School of Music and the Arts, then went on to obtain a Bachelor of Music from the Manhattan School of Music and a Masters from The Juilliard School (his Masters on a full scholarship). He studied under guitarists- Allen Hanlon, Fred Fried, Jack Wilkins, Rodney Jones, Dennis Koster.
His performing career began while still in school when he earned the leader’s role at a four-night-a week jam session at Augie’s Jazz Bar, now called Smoke. He played there with Brad Mehldau, Roy Hargrove, Joel Frahm, Chris Potter, Donny McCaslin, Uri Cane, Christian McBride, Larry Grenadier, Dwayne Burno, Greg Hutchinson, Jeff Ballard and many others.
Peter went on to gain acceptance to the prestigious Thelonius Monk Jazz Competition, where he was ranked semifinalist.
He has performed guitar duos in NYC with Jonathan Kreisberg, Mike Moreno, Freddie Bryant, Pete Bernstein, Paul Bollenback, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jack Wilkins, Gene Bertoncini, Barry Greene and many more.
His groups have been featured at jazz venues such as Dizzy’s Club, Birdland, The Knitting Factory and the Cornelia Street Café and as part of special events held at the United Nations, Rainbow Room, Rialto Room, The Allen Room, The River Club, The Yacht Club, Tribeca Grill, Le Bernadin, Brigewater’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s.
12 years ago, Peter began a Sunday night trio residency at The Bar Next Door at La Lanterna that is still vital today. His trio has featured Hendrik Meurkens, Will Vinson, John Ellis, Donny McCaslin, Jon Irabagon, Patrick Cornelius, Jacam Manricks, Etienne Charles, Itai Kriss, Matt Penman, Matt Clohesy, Hans Glawischnig, Marco Panascia, Ben Williams, Haggai Cohen-Milo, Brian Charette, Ari Hoenig, Bruce Cox and many more.
Over the course of his steady-Sunday-night, Peter has favored the use of 2 different instrumentations that have complimented intimate size of the BND and the club’s exclusive trio format. Those trios boldly explore texture and rhythm without the presence of drums. They include a guitar with bass and horn group, then a guitar with keys and bass group. His current trio with Misha Tsiganov on piano and Thomson Kneeland on Bass just recorded a debut release called “Circles and Lines” on Peter’s own Urban Flower Records.
After successfully launching his residency-gig, early on Peter helped implement a 7-night-a-week schedule of jazz music at the Bar Next Door at La Lanterna that has featured an outstanding and diverse array of guitar and saxophone-led trios, from some of New York’s most seasoned musicians, to some of its most exciting new talent. In an effort to continue to expand the club’s offerings as its Musical Director, 3 years ago he designed and implemented an Emerging Artist Series that has featured the best college-aged musicians playing early sets that occur on 4 nights of every week.
Peter has been invited to perform and guest speak at New York University, The Manhattan School of Music and at the Peabody Institute. In his presentations he discusses how he initiated jazz nights at various restaurants and bars throughout the city and how that effort culminated in the conversion of the BND from a restaurant with jazz into a notable full-on listening venue. He advises students on creative and professional ways to assimilate into the New York Jazz Club scene, particularly into the Emerging Artist Series.
Peter has taught jazz guitar for over 20 years. He held long affiliations with The American Institute of Guitar/International Studio of Music, The National Guitar Workshop and The New School while retaining his active private studio. He has been featured in the pages of Just Jazz Guitar and Jazz Inside magazines where he has discussed his approach to arranging, writing and practicing.
His solo guitar video of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on You Tube posses over 120,000 views.
His first CD was in 2007, called Through My Eyes on the Japanese label Late Set Records. The disc presented 8 original compositions and 2 original arrangements. While the pieces drew from jazz, classical, rock, funk and ambient music, the evocative and personal nature of the music fused them. The release was supported with 2 tours of Japan.
Peter’s most current CD – “Circles and Lines” is scheduled for release in October of 2014. He has a solo guitar recording “Blues for the Ineffable” is scheduled for release in 2015.
Though Peter is well seasoned with his own clear and distinctive style, he remains one of the jazz guitar world’s best-kept secrets.

Yotam Silberstein
As a young musician in Tel Aviv, Yotam Silberstein was quickly recognized as a prodigy and was invited to perform with many of the nation’s top musicians. At 21, he performed at Italy’s renowned Umbria Jazz Festival, released a critically acclaimed debut album and set out on an extensive tour of Europe.
Upon receiving a scholarship to the prestigious New School, Yotam Silberstein moved to New York in 2005. He was a finalist in the Thelonious MonkInternational Jazz Guitar Competition in 2005 with one critic noting: “Yotam’s tones are exquisitely old school but his playing fresh, fiery and bursting with joyful exuberance, and musically he is one heavy cat.” Jazz Times noted that Yotam has “made an impact on the scene with his precision bebop lines and fleet fingered improvisation”. All About Jazz saw a resemblance between his 2009 release, “Next Page” and “the heyday of Blue Note Records”, adding that Yotam is “forging his own path with skills and style.”
As artistically gifted as he is technically proficient, Silberstein is featured on a wide variety of critically acclaimed releases including “Resonance” and “Brasil” on the Jazz Legacy Productions label, John Patitucci‘s new trio album “Irmaos De Fe” and Monty Alexander’s Grammy-nominated “Harlem-Kingston Express Live!” among countless others.
Yotam has earned his place among the jazz elite by collaborating with such luminaries as James Moody, The Heath Brothers, Roy Hargrove, George Coleman, David Sanborn, Marcus Miller, Paquito D’rivera, Christian McBride, John Patitucci, and many others.
This versatile guitarist’s wheelhouse runs the sonic spectrum, including Brazilian, world music, blues and bebop. Silberstein’s showmanship wowed the Kennedy Center’s 2011 production, “Ella!” which featured Dee Dee Bridgewater, Al Jarreau, Dr. Billy Taylor and Janis Siegel. His performance earned him a return invitation for a special appearance at the KC Jazz Club. In Addition Yotam has applied his talent to composing music for film and in 2015 he received the Sundance Time Warner award for film scoring.
Yotam Silberstein has toured as a leader in major clubs and jazz festivals in Europe, Japan, South America, Asia and the US and has received high praise for his performances. Having performed with the world’s premier talent, Yotam has honed his craft with precision, finesse and the innate artistic touch. Both the critics and his fans await the release of his new album “The Village” on Jazz & People in January . DownBeat magazine calls this “his most fully realized recording to date,” and says that Yotam “burns brightly alongside colleagues Goldberg, Rogers and Hutchinson.”

Musikerin und Musiker*innencoach
Melina Paetzold ist als freischaffende Musikerin, Musikwissenschaftlerin und Musiker*innencoach in Berlin tätig. Sie studierte Klarinette an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock bei Prof. Heiner Schinder (Staatskapelle Berlin) und in Wien bei Prof. Johann Hindler (Wiener Philharmoniker) und setzt sich als Musikerin und Wissenschaftlerin vor allem für die von den Nationalsozialisten verfolgten und verbotenen Komponist*innen ein. Für diese Arbeit wurde sie mit ihrem Kammermusikensemble unter anderem mit dem NDR-Kulturpreis ausgezeichnet. Außerdem erhielt sie weitere Preise als Kammermusikerin und Klarinettistin, wie den 2. Preis beim Internationalen Wettbewerb für Verfemte Musik und mehrere Preise beim HMT-Preis, darunter zwei erste Preise. Auf ihrem Blog „beingdoingmusic“ und ihrem wöchentlichen Vlog „Music on!“ dreht sich alles um das Musizieren und Üben. Dabei stellt sie weit verbreitete Aussagen gern in Frage wie: Hilft viel üben immer viel? Oder: Muss sich der „harte Weg“ als Musiker*in auch so anfühlen? Herzlich Willkommen! Neben meiner Konzerttätigkeit bin ich als Gitarrenlehrer & Band-Coach tätig. Ich biete Einzel-Unterricht für alle Altersklassen, Level und Stilrichtungen (Rock, Pop, Blues, Jazz, Latin) an.
In meinen mind. 60 minütigen Unterrichtseinheiten vermittle ich sowohl Theorie als auch Praxis:
Melodiespiel, Improvisation, Chords, rhythmische und harmonische Grundlagen der Songbegleitung, Anschlag- und Begleittechniken. Ausserdem gibt es von mir einen Überblick über Übungstechniken, Warm-Up-Möglichkeiten und den ein oder anderen persönlichen Kniff. Mein Unterricht ist individuell auf jeden Schüler angepasst.
Du möchtest mit der E-Gitarre rocken, im Sommer am Lagerfeuer spielen, dich selbst auf der Gitarre begleiten, hast Interesse an meinen künftigen Workshop-Angeboten oder strebst ein Hochschulstudium an, dann bist du bei mir richtig.
